Associate Vice President, Compliance, Privacy, Security and Integrity

Brian Bonanno has been with the Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO) over the past 10 years in which time he has provided oversight and leadership to various aspects of the Revenue Cycle including Coding, Charge Capture, Billing Systems, CDM and Clinical Trials services.

Over the past five years, he had served as the Director of Revenue Operations and Coding where he helped to support Professional Revenue Cycle services for both the DHIP and DUHS.

Prior to coming to Duke, Brian spent over 8 years as a consultant in the Coding, Compliance and Education industry with his focus on Physician Services.  In this role, Brian was an industry expert and speaker on Evaluation and Management services, Interventional Radiology and other Coding Compliance topics.

Brian received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998 where he majored in Sociology of Medicine with a focus in Healthcare Administration.

Simon directs and integrates the various functions of Duke Health ambulatory services into one organizational strategy and oversees the operations, finances, performance and quality outcomes of all clinical sites, and Duke Health Access Services. He also works with leaders to drive innovation throughout ambulatory operations, including increasing capacity within and accessibility to ambulatory clinics, streamlining operations, improving the patient and provider experience, developing care models, transitioning to value-based care, among other initiatives. He is very interested in finding innovative ways to support physicians in delivering care in an efficient, high quality and patient-centered manner.

Simon received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University of Richmond and a Master of Healthcare Administration from University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

He is also a founder and the preceptor for the Administrative Fellowship Program.

Brittany Komansky is currently serving as the Associate Vice President of Quality, Safety, and Accreditation for Duke Health’s Duke Health Integrated Practice clinics.  Brittany serves as Patient Safety Officer for 100 Joint Commission Accredited Ambulatory Clinics, leading the team’s quality, safety, infection prevention, and patient experience teams by providing regulatory standard support to the physicians, clinic leaders, and staff.  She also works closely with interdisciplinary teams to streamline policies and processes to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to the patients being served.

Brittany has specialized in emergency medicine and patient safety during her 15+ years as a leader.  She holds a Board Certification in Emergency Nursing and a Board Certification as an Advanced Nursing Executive. Is a member of the NCNA, the ANA, AONL, and NCONL. She has proudly served on the Fatality Review Committee for Wake County, NC, currently serves on the Joint Commission’s Ambulatory Care Advisory Council, is a member of the 2023 AONL Young Professionals Class, and implemented the state’s first opioid prevention program that provided no-cost Narcan Take Home Kits for patients in the emergency department.

Associate Vice President, Revenue Management

Michael directs the identification, establishment, implementation, and monitoring of financial-analysis processes that contribute to the success of revenue cycle efforts on behalf of the clinical departments for DHIP.  Working with a team of Revenue Managers, he leads the effort to report and track operational performance across the entire spectrum of the clinical enterprise, looking for trends and reporting on areas of weakness that need focused attention.  Michael also acts as a resource for clinical and operational leadership regarding all aspects of accounts receivable processing and reporting.

Jennifer provides leadership and direction on programs and initiatives to enhance the patient and provider experience and optimize performance excellence across practices. These efforts currently include the Specialty Patient Engagement Center and Digital Health initiatives in collaboration with  physician leadership teams.

Jennifer brings more than 20 years of experience in ambulatory healthcare leadership and program development—10 of which come from other entities within Duke Health (Duke Primary Care, Duke Cancer Institute and Duke Regional Hospital), as well as external experience with US Oncology. She most recently, served as administrative director for Duke Regional’s Hospital based clinics and Durham community-based COVID vaccination clinics.

Jennifer has Master of Science degree in nursing and healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a Board Certified Advanced Nurse Executive, and serves as a volunteer career coach with Dress for Success.
