DURHAM, N.C. -- Today, Duke Sports Medicine opened an expanded clinic at the Duke Sports Science Institute at 3475 Erwin Road in Durham, North Carolina. Relocated from the Finch-Yeager Building on the Duke campus, the expanded clinic integrates orthopaedic surgery, physical therapy, primary care, cardiology, sports performance, fitness, sports medicine and research science and education in one location.
“The Duke Department of Orthopaedics is pleased to continue to offer world-class orthopaedic services in an expanded, convenient location to better serve our patients,” said Benjamin Alman, MD, Distinguished James R. Urbaniak Professor and Chairman of the Department. “This is more than just a new location, its a new way to put the patient first. This focus on clinicians and researchers working together to provide patients with cutting edge treatments distinguishes Duke as the premiere destination for sports medicine services.”

The clinic is nearly double in size and includes facilities for state-of-the-art imaging, physical therapy and sports performance. It is located on the Center for Living campus at Duke University.
The Duke Sports Science Institute was made possible by a $20 million gift from Dr. Steven and Rebecca Scott.
“This new facility provides a platform for sports medicine, clinical services, research and education that is unprecedented in this region,” said Claude T. Moorman, III, MD, Professor and Vice Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery, Director of the Duke Sports Medicine Center and Head Team Physician for Duke University. “We will offer comprehensive services to care for the overall health of athletes of all ages and levels.”

The Duke Sports Science Institute is an integrated, multi-specialty practice of the Duke Health Integrated Practice (DHIP). The DHIP has more than 70 specialty clinics in 10 counties throughout central and eastern North Carolina and Virginia.
