PDC Experts Join National Panel to Advise on Best Practices for Treating Concussions

O. Josh Bloom, MD, MPH, family medicine doctor and sports medicine expert, and Janna Fonseca, head athletic trainer, are among the invited participants at a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) conference designed to propose and share best practices, protocols and therapies for treating concussions. Discussions and outcomes of this week’s conference will be published in the journal Neurosurgery.  

Bloom practices at Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine Sports Concussion Clinic in Cary, NC, and is the head medical physician of the Carolina Hurricanes and USA Baseball, and is a team physician at Cary High School.   

Fonseca oversees the sports medicine program including community outreach and in-house sports medicine care for the practice.
